Life of a Lucky Man
Walter White was an ordinary American with an ordinary job as a teacher and a family
with a wife and 2 kids. A wife named Skyler, a son named Flynn, and a daughter
named Holly. His life was about to change.
Skeert! The car hammered to a stuttering stop. “damn these wild deer” muttered
Walt, already having his fair encounters with deer was well aware of the damage they
pose and one of the problems of living in the middle of nowhere.
Walt was running late and he knew he would here about it when he got home.
“You’re late again.” complained a frustrated Skyler.
“Had to grade some English papers and I got out late, looks like its pizza again
tonight. I’ll order one.” said Walt. Walt drove to the gas station and got the pizza and
saw the ad on the TV for the upcoming Powerball winning of 450 million dollars and
decided he was feeling lucky.
“I’d like to buy a Powerball ticket” announced a slightly confident Walt. On the ticket
the numbers read, 25 13 11 7 32. A random pick with no significance.
“I wish” said Flinn who was busy playing GTAV. He had no idea his life would be
changed forever.
Two days later Walt got the mail and received his auto insurance bill which had
been a hot topic with Skylar the past few months because Flinn was just starting to
drive and raising the monthly insurance bill.
“Skylar have you payed the insurance bill this month?’
“Don't get me started Walt, you can do it since you make the decisions around here”
Walt realizing that Skylar was upset with him sat down in the bedroom and flipped
on the TV and saw the numbers, 25 13 11 7 32. Walt saw the Powerball and and
pulled out his ticket and realized he had the numbers. At that moment he went blank
and didn’t know what it meant. He blacked out.
2 months later
By now Walt was a mini celebrity and as rich as ever. At that moment he wondered
how his life could get any better but he was about to ask himself how his life could get
any worse. He was on his way back from a school board meeting when he was
brought to a halt by 2 cars in the middle of the road. He saw 4 men get out and saw
them walking towards him. He locked the doors but the glass windows were no match
for a tire iron. Smash! the window shattered into a thousand pieces.
“What do you want from me” screamed Walt. Before he could get a response he
was being drug out of his car and being hauled into another car.
“We want your money” said one of the hijackers. “All of it.”
“I don't have any.” yelled Walt even when he knew he had all the money he could
ever want in the world. At that moment he was knocked out by the hijackers before he
knew what was coming.
Walt was taken to a warehouse where he was locked in a room. The warehouse
was a rundown, rusty old building thats been abandoned for over 5 years. When Walt
awoke he knew what was going on. His family by now had probably filed a missing
person report and were probably looking for him. He was scared for there safety.
“Give us your money” demanded one of the hijackers who had yet to revile their
identity and probably wouldn’t. “We know who you are and we are not afraid to get
your family too.” This was apparent to Walt and he knew that his face had been on the
local news for weeks after he won the lottery. He knew that his family was more
important than money.
“If you don't hurt my family I will give it all to you.” pleaded Walt
“How do we know that you will give us the money.” said the man
“I have all of the cash sitting in my back yard under the shed.” He knew it was the
stupidest place to keep your money and the logical thing, he thought, would to make a
bank account but he took the cash. Walt was once again knocked out.
1 month later
Walt’s life was back to normal, the way he wanted it. He couldn’t handle the fame
and he didn’t care much for loads of money. He still had stuff to show for it. A new
house, new cars, and more valuables. The kidnapping hit the news when Walt was
brought back to his home but by then It was too late to get the money back. His life
would be normal the rest of his life and he would live happy.
Good story, I liked the ending.
