SATIRE: Cheerleading Isn't a Sport

          In football they throw a little ball and it's called a sport, but in cheerleading we throw people and it's not considered a sport. Makes sense doesn't it?
          Football, basketball, wrestling and every other "sport" practice everyday. Well guess what, so do cheerleaders. We put in a lot of work just like everyone else, maybe not the same type of work, but we actually do something. We actually go to the weight room too. Weird, I know. It's not like cheerleaders throw girls in the air or anything important anyway. Basketball players pass the basketball around like it's some type of hot potato game. Football players don't even catch the ball half the time. Well guess what boys, we actually catch the girls that we throw. We also sometimes get hit in the face but we don't sit and cry about it. Notice how the crowd is always just sitting there, clapping their hands after every basket that has been made but halfway through, all of a sudden they are pumped up. Yeah, you can thank the cheerleaders later for that. Some people stereotype cheerleaders as "stupid" or "dumb." I want to see you memorize a billion cheers and do them in front of a crowd then. You try learning all these eight counts and routines that we have to do and report back to me how "dumb" we are. Cheerleaders actually have to remember cheers just like every other sport has to remember plays. People say "we're not important" but guess what, theres these little girls that look up to us every single time they see us cheer. They want to be us someday just like some little boy might look up to the football players. We do a little more than just run up and down the court, like in basketball. We tumble across the floor and spirit. Might not seem like a lot but I want to see you do a back handspring or a toe touch. It's harder than it looks. So next time you think about saying "cheerleading isn't even a sport", think again.
